Missionary Monday: Elder Gray Serving In Ventura, California

Here are some recent letters from Elder Gray in California:

Dec 13 2015

This week was awesome- picked up a new investigator named Kevin. He told us he was feeling a good warm feeling inside his chest when we are teaching him, he also told us he was at a party with his girlfriend the other week and felt like they needed a change in their life because he feels empty when he party’s and wants God in his life. We taught him the restoration. Its too bad I’m going to Oxnard and wont be able to teach him further I know he is on the path to baptism. We also met with Mary this week and she seems really interested in talking with us. but she likes to control the conversation and not let us talk to answer her questions, however she is very promising as well. A lot of rain this week it was pretty good we need it here in California. I’m really sad to be leaving this area just when I started to get to know the members. The bishop had us over for a great meal. However, this is the Lord’s work and I will go where he wants me to go.

It has been a great transfer with Elder Davis and it is sad to see him go. Now he will be in Simi Valley with my old companion Elder Banks. I’m kinda jealous I really loved Simi Valley. we are in the process of closing this apartment and so we are folding up our desks and everything and then moved our beds near the fire place in the living room. I really am going to miss this place and this ward. I will see elder Davis and Elder Banks on Christmas Eve for the devotional so that will be cool.
The only service we have done is helping out Many Mansions and that was fun while it lasted.
I gave my testimony this week on Jesus Christ. I have done a lot of study on the birth of Christ and his earthly ministry and I know he is our Savior and Redeemer and that he is the greatest gift that God has ever given us and He is our way home to our father who is in heaven. It’s a good feeling knowing that our big brother is going to help us come back to our dad! I say this in the name of Jesus Christ amen
I’m getting transferred to Oxnard first ward hope that I can meet some cool people there before Christmas. I’m happy for this next transfer because I get to go to the temple 🙂 I was able to see Elder Payne today. He is back to visit- it was pretty cool

This week was Awesome! We had a really good exchange with Elder Bowden on Saturday and now we have 2 people set with a baptismal date. Bryan on the 21st of next month and Richard on the 28th. It was such a good day, we taught lessons back to back and Elder Parkinson and I grew in our companionship. Next transfer is going to bring miracles. We had the challenge of seeing all of our investigators this week and not leaving anyone out it’s hard because all the work that needs to be done, however we feel like we have figured things out. There is just not enough time in a week to do all the things we want to do. It is really nice to have the whole ward again and not a split. It has been a year since I have had my own ward and I feel like I work better when I’m not divided. We are growing in comp unity. we have become the tri force and we are unstoppable. We have a goal to get 2 more set baptismal dates this week and see what we can do to work the most with those ready to take the step and walk on the path of the gospel.
I know that Jesus is the living son of the living god. I know that the Book of Mormon and the Bible go hand in hand because I have read them, and have seen how they work with each other. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the true and living prophet on the earth today- he leads and guides the Lord’s church here on the earth and through the priesthood authority/power which was restored to the earth through Joseph Smith. We can be with our families for all eternity. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ amen
