Big Serve A Big Success!

On May 13th, over 1,000 volunteers from St. Andrew’s, St. Luke’s, The Highlands Ranch Stake, and community members throughout Highlands Ranch participated in over 50 service projects in the Denver Metro Area. Over 3,500 hours of service were completed as volunteers sorted diapers for the Rocky Mountain Diaper Depot, decorated bags for Meals on Wheels, painted a local elementary school, and so much more! A fabulous day was had by all!

Here is one person’s account:

Thank you to those on the Just Serve committee who helped us connect with the Big Serve event today.  It was a great experience serving along side folks from St. Andrews Church to clean up the CCH Renaissance Children’s Center (1797 Kendall St, Lakewood).  There were many people there from St. Andrews Church (approx. 30?).  Wehelped them weed and prepare the children’s garden boxes, mow the lawn, teach a man at the center how to run a lawn mower, and generally clean up.  Several people worked inside the building painting about 4 rooms. The help was needed and appreciated.

In the evening a worship service and taco bar was held for volunteers. About 100 people attended for a wonderful night of fellowship!

We hope to make this a wonderful annual tradition to join with our community and those of other faiths to make a difference in our community!

We Love Project Linus!

For years we have built a wonderful relationship with Pax Christi as we have worked together to support Project Linus, a world wide non-profit that makes blankets to give to children around the world in distress. It is a wonderful organization, and as those of us who participate in this program know: Sitting down and quilting with others brings women, and communities, together. It was a beautiful day for all involved!

Thank you to the stake Relief Society for organizing and executing this wonderful event with Pax Christi!
