New Stake Presidency

Brothers and Sisters,

Earlier today on assignment from Russel M. Nelson, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Christoffel Golden and Elder Rulon F. Stacey of the Seventy released President Ralph Walker as President of the Highlands Colorado Stake.  In addition President Brandon Wilcox was released as First Counselor and President Chris Thomas was released as Second Counselor.

President Jeffrey Whipple of the Spring Gulch Ward was called and sustained as the new Stake President of the Highlands Ranch Colorado Stake.  President Brandon Wilcox of the Westridge Ward and President Scott Sorensen of the Daniels Park Ward were called and sustained as the First and Second Counselors respectively.

We offer our heartfelt gratitude to President Walker and President Thomas for their loyal, consecrated service to the Lord.  We also acknowledge the valued support and service given by their wives and families.

With all our love,

The Highlands Ranch Stake Presidency

Stake Presidency Reorginization

Brothers and Sisters:

President Ralph Walker has served as our Stake President for nine years.  As is customary, his term of service in this capacity is coming to a conclusion.

We have received notification from the First Presidency that, as part of the upcoming Stake Conference on February 11 and 12, President Walker and his two counselors, President Wilcox and President Thomas, will be released.  During this conference, a new Stake Presidency will be called.

Elder Christoffel Golden of the First Quorum of the Seventy and Elder Rulon Stacey of the Sixth Quorum of the Seventy will be attending this Stake Conference to conduct this business and to instruct us.

The stakes of the Church are established “for a defense, and for a refuge” for the Saints in the latter days (D&C 115:6).  We ask you, then, to prepare spiritually and to join us in this historic occasion as we learn together from our Church leaders and sustain a new stake presidency.  Those who attend will be richly edified and enjoy the blessings of a defense and a refuge from the storms of these latter days.

The Sunday General Session will be held on Sunday, February 12, at 10:00am, in the Highlands Ranch Stake Center.  All stake members, friends, and neighbors are invited to attend.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend the Sunday Session in the building of his or her choice at the following locations:  Highlands Ranch Stake Center, Foothills Canyon Building (live direct transmission), Wildcat Reserve Parkway Building (live webcast), Colorado Building (live webcast).

There will also be a Saturday Evening Session on February 11, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Stake Center. All stake members ages 18 years and older are invited to attend.

In addition, a Priesthood Leadership Session will be held for all Priesthood leaders on Saturday afternoon, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Stake Center.

May the blessings of the Lord be upon each of you as we prepare for and participate in this stake conference:

Awake, and arise from the dust, . . . ; and strengthen thy stakes and enlarge thy borders forever, that thou mayest no more be confounded, that the covenants of the Eternal Father which he hath made unto thee, O house of Israel, may be fulfilled. Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, . . . Moroni 10:31-32.

With all of our love,

How Our Stake Is Organizing To Help The Refugees

After General Conference, our stake Relief Society immediately went into action to look for ways that members of our stake can help serve the refugees. While nothing has been finalized yet, research is in the works! Here is an e-mail that our Relief Society President, Sister Chambers, sent to the ward Relief Society presidents of the stake:

Dear Sisters,

The Highlands Ranch Stake Relief Society Presidency has met to discuss how we can respond to the “I was a Stranger” directive that was given during General Conference by Sister Linda K. Burton and Elder Patrick Kearon.

As we pray for guidance, we are counseling with our Stake Council, the Stake Young Women leaders, and the Stake Primary leaders.  We seek to:

-Aid refugees in our local area.
-Give person to person assistance.

We are currently investigating several avenues for service and we will share with you our plan for service as it develops.

We encourage you to prayerfully study the information on the “I was a Stranger” website, council together, then move forward in providing relief to local refugees.

May the Lord bless us all.

Highlands Ranch Stake Relief Society Presidency

New Stake Presidency Counselors

We are incredibly grateful for the efforts and the work of Presidents Grover and Hammond on our behalf. They gave of their time and their hearts to help us as a stake, and were recently released.

At the last stake conference they were released, and new counselors were sustained.

Here is our new stake presidency:

President Wilcox (left, First Counselor), President Walker, and President Thomas (Second Counselor)

New Stake Presidency Members

Brothers and Sisters,

We realize that due to Fall Break, many families were unable to attend stake conference this past weekend. On Sunday October 19th in the general session of stake conference, Robert R. Hammond and Steven M. Grover were released from the stake presidency. President Brandon K. Wilcox of the Westridge Ward was called as the new first counselor in the stake presidency and President Christopher L. Thomas of the Saddle Ranch Ward was called as the new second counselor in the stake presidency. President Wilcox will now take over the assignments that President Grover had, and President Thomas will take over the assignments that President Hammond had.

Thank you for your sustaining vote and for your prayers on behalf of the leaders of our stake.

Sincerely,

President Ralph L. Walker
